Bookstore Quest
I am a solo developer and this is my first game, which i worked on for almost 4 months. It's not much, but it's a really big milestone for me, as it took a lot of effort, time and patience :)
The game is pretty short but i might add more content in the future, all i need is to know that you guys are eager to play this game and see new updates/content :-)
Gameplay
In this game you need to restore a bookstore. You buy bookshelves, choose book genres they will have, upgrade bookshelves and interact with the customers to help them decide what they want, make book deliveries, and deal with "unwanted" someone who might mess with your bookstore.
Oh, and don't forget to restock your books on the bookshelves. You wouldn't want your customers to miss out on a new book they were dying to read, would you?
Controls
Initially i was developing this game for Android, so all you need is a mouse which behaves just like your finger :)

Nice game. Still a bit buggy, it crashes a lot when someone starts messing with the books (had to replay it again and it crashed again when someone messed with the books). Also as someone else said, the red dot for the upgrades get stuck. Numbers also don't make sense really, someone paying you 3 billion for a book and a bookshelf costing 3 billion... you just have to wait until it gives you enough money to buy upgrades or bookshelves and not really think about the money scale too much.
Still, I'm sure those issues can be fixed, it's a really fun and cozy little game.
Solid game, just crashes on same spot on multiple browsers (lvl 3, 1 star and once i got vandal coming to hit a shelf the game crashes)
super nice chill game ! I think you get to much money to quickly nevertheless, I got to the million in like 5min and lot's of upgrade !
Really cute game!
Two issues I found:
1) At some point the red dot on the upgrade button became permanent, so I could never tell if I actually had an upgrade available.
2) I accidentally scrolled up enough to, I guess, pass outside the bounds of the game? It froze completely. Had to reload the page and lost all progress.
Very nice little game ! Keep up the good work :)
Thank you for playing :)
Pretty nice game. Was surprised at the amount of stuff we can already do, but a pleasant surprise
And i am surprised by your comment, because this game is pretty short and might feel like a Demo to some people :D
Thanks for playing :)
Been really enjoying this one!
Thank you for playing :)
Very nice! It has a good vibe to it.
I played the web version (https://itch.io/embed-upload/16150683) in Firefox. I had no issues with the bookshelf.
I was never fast enough to get more than two gems on any of the minigames, and I was never *slow* enough to get *fewer* than two gems. That was true even when I had never seen a minigame before and was still figuring out how to interact with it.
One note: At the very beginning, the Manager says, "Nice job! Hey, i can already see our first visitor." But the first visitor is not visible at this point. After you dismiss the dialog, there a short delay before the first visitor appears outside the building, where they are visible to us, but still not yet visible to the Manager. So I was pretty surprised by the dialog. (Also the "i" should be capitalized in that message.)
I really liked the way you could see the effects of the upgrades in the behavior of the customers. The music was nice. There was very little stress, but it kept you engaged. It was nice. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback, very appreciate it! Glad that gameplay was not stressful.
Noted everything, will see how i can improve it, thanks :)
Fun little game, Demo isn't very long but nice.
Thanks for plaing :)
Pretty good game. However I found a couple issues.
In the sorting minigame, if you place all the books on the shelves and you haven't sorted them correctly it's then impossible to take them out again to switch them.
The swiping down on the book order minigame is kinda tricky to deal with on computer since the game goes full screen.
Thanks for trying out my game!
As for the sorting minigame, its not a bug because you can swap one book with another so the game will never be blocked. But i am not sure why you mentioned that "it's impossible to take them out again" becauses i just tried to do that and i could pick up the books from the unfinished sections and place them somewhere else. But i suppose it's not obvious that you can swap books, so i will think about how to improve it.
Will try to optimize swiping books for web. Thanks for the heads up :)
